City of Edinburgh Council’s Employability & Skills Service

The City of Edinburgh Council’s Employability and Skills team provides a variety of employability support services across the city as part of the Council’s contribution to The Edinburgh Guarantee.

These include:

Capital Skills

Capital Skills delivers training programmes to those that are eligible for Employability Fund support. Programmes are available for unemployed people aged 16 and over who are interested in construction, landscaping and horticulture work, retail and the care sector. Inspiring Young People

This nine month programme offers young people who are not yet ready for a job, the opportunity to access support, training and development, including a six month paid work placement. For more information: call the Get On Gateway on 0131 529 6161 or email geton@edinburgh.gov.uk

JET Programme

The JET Programme is delivered in Edinburgh high schools to pupils in S4 and S5 and aims to prepare them for the world of work. Pupils undertake a work experience placement every Friday from September to April, and have the opportunity to gain a national qualification in employability skills. Modern Apprenticeship (MA) Programme

A Modern Apprenticeship (MA) with the Council offers employment on a fixed term contract and the opportunity to achieve a recognised qualification. For more information: call the Get On Gateway on 0131 529 6161 or email geton@edinburgh.gov.uk
